In La Verkin, we stayed at the cheap and cheerful Hotel Zion Inn for one night in October 2019 when we were traveling on a low budget. And we spent a night at the La Quinta in December 2021 after visiting the Kolob Canyon region of Zion.

Hotel Zion is the cheapest hotel in La Verkin Utah. In fact, it’s one of the cheapest hotels near Zion National Park period and that’s why we stayed here in 2019. We normally wouldn’t include a hotel with ratings this low in our guides but it’s by far the most affordable hotel in La Verkin and it isn’t all that bad!
Reviewers on Booking rate location the highest at Hotel Zion. On the plus side it’s pet friendly, it has a basic breakfast included and you can even do laundry. As long as you manage your expectations properly, this hotel could save you a lot of money on a longer road trip around the American southwest.

La Quinta is one of the most popular places to stay in La Verkin UT. We had a fantastic experience when we booked this hotel in October 2019. It has plenty of amenities, including an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and it’s been one of the better La Quinta properties we’ve stayed at in the southwest.
Reviewers on Booking rate comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location the highest at La Quinta. If you want to stay at an affordable but quality chain hotel near Zion National Park, this modern and familiar hotel with breakfast included might be your best bet.

Best Western Plus is another popular mid range chain hotel in La Verkin UT with solid guest ratings and amenities. We’ve stayed at Best Westerns all over America and they’re usually good value for money. This hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay near Zion.
Reviewers on Booking rate staff, comfort, cleanliness and location the highest at Best Western Plus. It has slightly lower ratings than La Quinta, but it has similar facilities and it’s essentially next door. Personally we think La Quinta edges it unless the Best Western is much cheaper.

4. Zion’s Camp and Cottages

Zion’s Camp and Cottages is a simple but affordable and effective place to stay in La Verkin UT. Moving away from the typical chain hotel concept entirely, you can stay in a private cabin with a king bed and bunk beds, lots of interior living space and plenty of outdoor space at this property.
Reviewers on Booking rate staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities, value for money and location the highest at Zion’s Camp and Cottages. This place has excellent ratings, a central location and it’s perfect for families or larger groups who want to keep costs down near Zion.

Apartments
Are you visiting the area with your family, in a larger group or for longer stays?
We have two more wildcard lodging options for you to consider. They’re both apartment stays, similar to those you’d find on Airbnb in which you pay an additional service fee and a cleaning fee on top of the base price.
1. Sunny La Verkin Studio
At Sunny La Verkin Studio you’ll get an entire apartment with a full kitchen, balcony and even a pool table. The apartment look a bit like a vintage house with an abundance of seating areas in a large communal room.
So far the apartment doesn’t have many ratings, but the ratings up to now are excellent. Families and groups might prefer to stay in a place like this over a traditional hotel.

2. La Verkin Family Apartment
At La Verkin Family Apartment you’ll get an entire ground floor apartment with full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and outdoor seating. It’s a cozy apartment that’s perfect for larger groups or families who need more beds in one place.
The living and dining areas look fantastic and the few reviews so far are near perfect, so it’s worth taking a closer look before booking any of the hotels we’ve listed above.

Is La Verkin A Good Place To Stay For Zion?
La Verkin, Utah is a less convenient but cheaper place to stay for visiting Zion National Park. It’s great if you’re trying to do Zion on a low budget or you want a place to stay near Kolob Canyons. La Verkin has a handful of excellent restaurants including River Rock Roasting Company, Stage Coach Grille and El Rancho so you’ll have quality food options available.
Springdale is the obvious alternative to La Verkin when choosing a hotel near Zion. It’s closer to the park’s main hikes and it’s a livelier town with a much greater selection of restaurants when compared to La Verkin.
Virgin has the most remote and unique places to stay near Zion, including luxury glamping tents and converted caravans, but they’re typically much more expensive.

Unexpected Benefits
Zion is amazing, but it isn’t the only thing to do in southwest Utah!
Another major benefit to staying at a hotel in La Verkin instead of Springdale is that you’d be located much closer to several underrated natural landscapes in the region including:
La Verkin is also easier to access from Las Vegas and Salt Lake City because it’s closer to I-15. This means La Verkin is not only cheaper but also more convenient logistically for either the night before or after visiting Zion.

Our Verdict
Hotels in La Verkin, Utah are cheaper than any other place you can stay near Zion National Park. But there are fewer hotel options and it’s a 30 minute drive from La Verkin to Zion’s main canyon and visitor center. It’s a good option if you’re visiting Zion on a tight budget.
Hotel Zion Inn is the cheapest place you can stay in La Verkin. La Quinta and Best Western Plus offer affordable hotel chain options with breakfast included. Zion’s Camp and Cottages is a unique and highly rated lodging option, and The Dwellings is the most luxurious place you can stay. The two new apartments could be perfect for families or larger groups.
We stayed at La Quinta after spending a day hiking in the Kolob Canyon region of Zion. It worked for our budget and it had breakfast included, which set us up nicely before visiting Coral Pink Sand Dunes on the way to Kanab, Utah.
